Save the Mesa Pledges $35,000 in Matching Funds Program
Could Bring $70,000 to Nipomo

Save the Mesa has announced a Matching Funds Program that could bring $70,000 to Nipomo's historic, environmental, and recreation projects. Three non-profit groups have been offered funds matching their other contributions between February 1 and June 1 of this year. Each group is to notify Save the Mesa after June 1 the amount they have raised to receive their matching grants.

The Land Conservancy of San Luis Obispo County will receive up to $20,000. Its grant is expected to be used to employ specialists to bring grants for permanent open space preservation in the Nipomo area.

Ride Nipomo will be given an additional $10,000 in matching funds to be used for further development of equestrian trails if they collect $10,000 by mid-year. Ride Nipomo was given $10,000 in December 2002 to help build a horse trail along Camino Caballo connecting the Woodlands to Nipomo Community Park.

Another $5,000 is pledged to match funds contributed to the Dana Adobe by June 1. The Dana Adobe, damaged by recent rains, is expected to use the grant to repair its south wall.

Save the Mesa, Inc. is a non-profit group dedicated to preserving the rural nature of the Nipomo Mesa and surrounding areas, and to support sustainable growth in Southern San Luis Obispo County. Δ
